Recommendation of the President #HPP #48aa – Prevention of tick-borne diseases (Lyme disease)
Recommendation No. 43/2025 of October 1, 2025, of the President of the Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System on recommended medical technologies, activities carried out under health policy programs, and conditions for the implementation of these programs, concerning the prevention of tick-borne diseases (Lyme disease)
The recommendation contains a model solution for a given health problem – Prevention of tick-borne diseases (Lyme disease)
The recommendation exempts local government units from the obligation to submit a health policy program prepared in accordance with its content for review.
Thus, the recommendation serves as a model for programs prepared by local government units for this health problem.
The President of the Agency recommends that health policy programs include educational activities aimed at the prevention of Lyme disease targeted at the general population, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in the population at high risk of tick-borne diseases with symptoms of Lyme disease, as well as training on Lyme disease for medical personnel.
Therefore, from October 1, 2025, in order to prepare PPZs for the prevention of tick-borne diseases (Lyme disease), the provisions of recommendation No. 43/2025 should be taken into account, and then a statement of compliance of the PPZ project with this recommendation should be sent to the Agency pursuant to Article 48aa(11) of the Act.
There is no need to modify the PPZ currently in force, which came into effect before the publication of recommendation 43/2025. It is not possible to continue future editions of the PPZ in unchanged form.
