GRADE

GRADE constitutes a transparent and structured methodology for developing and presenting summaries of evidence for the development of:

  • systematic reviews
  • standards of care in the healthcare system
  • clinical practice guidelines

The main assumption of The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) group was to eliminate the misunderstandings arising from the use of different methods of assessing collected evidence and classifying recommendations used in healthcare.

Due to its complexity and clarity, the GRADE methodology is used by many organisations and societies, including the World Health Organisation, American College of Physicians, American Thoracic Society, European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and Cochrane Collaboration.

GRADE methods and tools are continuously developed and made available by the GRADE Working Group.
